Where I Grow
I grew my herbs in pots and small beds on the south side of my yard. I have a maple tree on one part that aids me with the shade/partial shade factor when needed. The herb/flower beds are on the south side side where it is sunny. My vegetable garden is on the west side of my yard in full sun. My grandson (3yr) has planted radishes, onions, and lettuce in a bathtub this year.
What I Grow
I grow culinary herbs such as marjoram and thyme. I also grew medicinal herbs such as lemon balm, mints, and many herbs that are used for both. I also grew perennials and started a orchard of dwarf trees this year. I also started a square-foot garden this year to try that method. I am mildly disabled so I cannot hoe and weed like I used to. I am also trying a upside-down tomato this year. Other than that no new beds this year.
Advice
- Remember to use your zone hardiness. If possible use one zone hardier. I am in 5b but that does not mean a perennial for this zone will actually survive a winter. I tend to check for zone 5a at least when possible. Otherwise use plants as annuals.
