Question: Will Basil Downy Mildew Affect My Other Herbs?
I have removed basil plants due to them having basil downy mildew. Will the surrounding herbs be affected?
Answer:
You have done the right thing, and removed the affected basil plants. There is no saving them, and the spores of the disease actually are on the bottom of the leaves. This means, the more you move the plant around, the more you are knocking off the spores and spreading it.
Your other herbs should not be affected by Basil Downy Mildew. So far, it seems to be basil specific and of all the basils, sweet basil seems to be affected far worst. If you have had problems with Downy Mildew, try growing another variety of basil.
