An easy and completely organic method of controlling damaging insect numbers in the herb garden, is by hand picking. This means actually closely monitoring and removing insects by hand.
Why Handpick Insects?
Handpicking is a slow but effective method of removing the pests you see. Avoiding chemicals when working with edible plants, is a good idea. You do not want to introduce anything that may leave a chemical residue on the things you are going to be eating. Handpicking avoids any chemicals and allows you to notice any problems, before they become too damaging.
Ways To Handpick Insects
Insects can be handpicked from the plant as you see them, dug up while they lie dormant under the soil, the webs of destructive insect larvae can be removed before they invade and finally, actually removing any plants that seem to be more susceptible to damage.
