How To Make Chamomile Shampoo

By Amy Jeanroy, About.com

For beauty, chamomile has quite a bit to offer as well. It is a wonderful rinse for light hair and imparts a golden highlight. It also is a soothing and refreshing facial tonic.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Twenty minutes

Here's How:

  1. Place the flowers in a bowl and add the boiling water.

  2. Let stand for 15 minutes then strain into the other bowl.

  3. Clean the first bowl.

  4. Combine the soap flakes and hot infusion in the first bowl.

  5. Let stand until the soap softens. This takes five minutes.

  6. Beat in glycerin until blended.

  7. Pour the mixture into the bottle.

  8. Keep in a cool, dark place.

Tips:

  1. This is a great way to use up chamomile blossoms from last season.

  2. You can grate a pure bar of soap if flakes are not available.

  3. This is a great way to recycle an old plastic bottle.

  4. Glycerin is found over the counter at the pharmacy. Ask for it at your local health food store, also.

What You Need:

  • 1/4 Cup of dried chamomile flowers
  • 1 1/4 Cups boiling water
  • 1 1/4 Cups boiling water
  • 1 Tablespoon glycerin
  • 2 heatproof bowls
  • Sieve
  • Wooden spoon
  • Clean 14 oz. bottle with a tight lid.
