How To Make Violet Flavored Sugar

This is a delicately flavored sugar, made with only two ingredients. Makes as much as you have petals for, this special treat is not only easy, it is a wonderful gift for any herb tea lover.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 1 hour
Here's How:
  1. Pick as many violets as you can find.
  2. Remove all petals from the green parts of the flower.
  3. Layer white sugar and petals in a glass jar until petals are used up and the last layer is sugar. Cover tightly.
  4. Allow petals to sit in sugar for at least one week.
  5. You can sift the petals out of the sugar or leave them in.
Tips:
  1. Only pick violets from a clean, unsprayed area.
  2. Use resulting sugar in any teas.
  3. This flavored sugar also adds a special touch to shortbread or sugar cookies.
What You Need:
  • Glass jar with lid
  • Violet flowers
  • White sugar
