How To Make Your Own Seed Packets

Make your own seed packets. Record the date, any growing information and reminders that you need. Seed packets make a wonderful gift.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15 Minutes
Here's How:
  1. Print the page of seed packets located at the bottom of this article. Use your printer's Fit To Page, option.
  2. Cut out seed packets.
  3. Fold bottom up to make a packet.
  4. Fold in both sides and tape them securely to keep seeds from spilling out.
  5. Fill with seeds.
  6. Tape top flap securely.
  7. Keep filled packets in a clean, sealed container. Be sure to keep out of light and away from moisture.
Tips:
  1. To ensure that seeds remain dry, combine them with powdered milk before filling packets.
  2. Enlarge packets in a copy machine to allow for larger seeds or larger quantities.
  3. Make notes about planting location and other specific tips on the packet, to remember from year to year.
  4. A few packets placed in a painted pot, make a great gift for any gardener!

  • Tape
  • Marking pen
  • Loose seeds
  • Airtight container for seed storage
