How To Make Herbal Body Powder

Learn to make your own herbal body powder and you will be able to create an endless supply of herbal scents. Grow your own herbs and mix up this simple recipe.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 30 minutes plus time for scents to blend

Here's How:

  1. Using a clean coffee grinder, grind up your choice of herbs into a fine powder.
  2. Sift ground herbs to remove any larger pieces and regrind to the finest powder you can achieve.
  3. Mix the ground herb with the remaining ingredients.
  4. Cover mixture tightly and let sit for 72 hours to combine the scents.
  5. Apply using a body pouf or pour finished powder into a jar with a shaker top. Enjoy!

Tips:

  1. Make your own shaker jar using a pint size canning jar and ring. cut a sturdy piece of poster board the diameter of the ring. Punch a few holes into poster board with a thin nail. Voila! You have an instant powder shaker.
  2. Some herbs that work well for herbal powders are: Chamomile blossoms, lavender buds, sage leaves(these will stain light clothing)rose petals, calendula petals(very soothing), mint leaves. Try anything that smells nice to you!
  3. Add 1 drop of complimentary scented essential oil, per cup of powder, before letting sit for 72 hours.

What You Need:

  • 1/2 part finely ground and sifted herbs
  • 1 part arrowroot powder, cornstarch or baking soda
  • 1/2 part fine white clay
  • Container to hold powder in
  • Flour sifter
  • Coffee grinder that can be used for herbs
