Weeding is often viewed as a dreaded chore. With a few simple guidelines, weeding will always be quick, easy and second nature.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15 minutes a day
Here's How:
- Identify weeds, using a noxious weed list from your location.
- Allow weeds to grow approximately 1 inch.
- After a rain or a thorough watering, pull the individual weeds from the soil. Try to remove the roots with the sprouted weed.
- Gently press the soil back into place, if pulling the weed disturbed more than a small place.
- Weed daily to stay ahead of the weed growth.
Tips:
- Allowing weeds to grow one inch means that you will have an easier time grasping the weed and more chance of removing the root.
- If you are finding an abundance of weeds, review your mulching technique. You may need to add deeper mulch to combat the weed growth.
- Planting through garden cloth or plastic can lessen or nearly eliminate all weeding. Your local garden store will carry a variety of these products to choose from.
What You Need:
- Garden gloves if desired
- Noxious weed list
