Tip: Repel Ants

Wednesday April 23, 2008

If you are container gardening, at some point, you will find ants have moved in. They like to live in the cool, dark area, under your pots. To remove these pests, you want to use something that is safe around your edibles. I have used a few different techniques to keep ants to a minimum. A simple solution is a mixture of sugar and boric acid.

Another mixture that works well is equal parts cornmeal and washing soda, placed in a lid, next to your pots. This is an easy fix for a windowsill garden. The lid is inconspicuous alongside the taller pots.
