Rocks and Herbs

Rocks and herbs go together like peanut butter and jelly. Rock gardening is a great way to make any area in your landscape look extra special. Herbs always look their best when they can have a little natural background and rocks compliment every sort of herb you may want to grow.

If you have never considered rock gardening with herbs, the Landscaping Guide has a list of rock garden ideas for any problem area. His tips have started me brainstorming new rock garden designs while I wait these last few weeks for the soil to dry out enough to dig into.

Sometimes, a rock garden can be hiding an area that you simply can not change. I once had an old cast iron belly stove that had been left in what was now my front yard. Whenever I looked out the window while doing dishes, there it was. The solution? I created a rock garden around it and the once rusty eyesore became a focal point with trailing herbs surrounding it and cascading out of the firebox.

Find your yard's eyesore and create something beautiful!
