Give Your Chives Some Attention

Wednesday April 9, 2008

Early spring is the perfect time to divide your chive plants. I spent the morning with a shovel and pail, dividing my chives into about 3 inch clumps. After an easy couple of hour's work, I now have 20 chive plants that need to be moved, repotted or given away.

As long as you have a few leaves and a bit of roots, you will be able to move your new chive babies to a different location. Chives are the perfect early spring gardening task that will get your hands into the dirt and help your chives grow better.

Chives pot easily, and make a great gift or early farmers market item.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to get out there and divide mine.

Found you on Blotanical. Enjoyed reading all the way down to this post. Must run, but am sure I will be popping in from time to time to see what you are writing about now.
